Ingrid Groppe, born in Bürgstadt, Germany, comes from a family of musiciens. She learned piano already in her early years. After secondary school she took lessons with Werner Hoppstock at the "Academie für Tonkunst" and passed the State examination. Following to that, Ingrid Groppe studied at the Hochschule für Musik Koeln: piano with Prof. Guenther Ludwig and Prof. Pavel Gililov, chamber music with the Amadeus Quartet. After having passed the artistic diploma examination she had been attending additional courses with Prof. Annerose Schmidt at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin for some terms and passed the concert examination.

Ingrd Groppe completed her education with Prof. Vitaly Margulis of the University of California in Los Angeles and Prof. Jacob Lateiner of the renowned Juilliard School in New York, and took part in numerous master courses with Prof. Karl-Heinz Kaemmerling, Prof. Vitaly Margulis and Gyoergy Sebok.

Solo concerts were given by Ingrid Groppe, for instance in Frankfurt/Main, Brunswick, Darmstadt, Miltenberg, Cologne and, above all, in Berlin. She played at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and the Ost-West Musikfest of the city Krems. In the USA she gave concerts in Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Diego and New York. She performed in Jerusalem and also in China (Beijing).


Ingrid Groppe played, among others, all piano concertos by Ludwig von Beethoven with orchestra, including the Choral Fantasy (1998 in Salzburg). In Berlin she performed the piano concerto in a minor by Robert Schumann and the piano concerto No. 1 in d minor by Johannes Brahms with the Deutsches Filmorchester. The piano concerto No. 2 in B flat major by Brahms she played with the Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra in San Diega, California.

In Halle, Magdeburg and Gewandhaus Leipzig she performed the piano concerto No. 1 by Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky.
